The Secret to a Stunning Wedding Album

The Secret to a Stunning Wedding Album

The most effective wedding album tells a story.  Think carefully about which images you select for your album to ensure yours will tell your story in the perfect way.  Start looking at your wedding images by breaking up the day in to chapters.  A good photographer will always give you the following:

Before the Ceremony
  • Bridal Preparation – hair, make-up, preparing the gown
  • Bridesmaids
  • Detailed shots such as the gown, jewellery, shoes, flowers
  • Groom & Best Man / Ushers before the Ceremony
Ceremony
  • Guests / Groom waiting
  • Brides arrival
  • Service
  • Readings
  • Walking back up the aisle as Mr & Mrs
 Photo Shoot
  • Groups
  • Bridal Party
  • Bride & Groom Portraits
Reception
  • Room décor
  • Table settings
  • Speeches
  • Cutting of the cake
  • First Dance
  • Evening party
When deciding on your images for you album, remember to select images from the above chapters and don’t forget to include all those little details that make your day unique to you!

Tips:

Include snapshots of the preparation to the big moment: the Groom buttoning his cufflinks, your make-up and  give an idea of the setting: Marquee, Church, Grand House etc...

From the Ceremony and Reception, choose images of the sweet smiles passed between you and your Groom as well as the guests in the crowd wishing you well and remember to add the small details such as the menu’s, wedding favours, candles and champagne!  These photographs make great backgrounds to main images and your photographer will also use them to showcase your wedding in the best way.  After all, you put a lot of time and effort in to choosing all the details in the first place – so don’t leave them out!

Let your photographs speak for themselves.  Single photos on a page really stand out and a ‘blank’ space around the image highlights this even further.

Another lovely idea is to pick 3 or 4 similar images, for example of the first dance or from your speeches.  These can be beautifully laid out on the same page and give a level of intimacy and help viewers to delve in to your story.

When you have selected your images, take a moment to look through and see if you have enough variety: you will want both portrait and landscape shots, close up and distant, black & white and colour, candid and formal.  Ensuring a great mix of all of these will give you a beautiful and interesting album that you will want to look at time and time again.

Most importantly, talk to your photographer! At Notton House Photography, we design your album according to your requirements and by working with your photographer, we can help you to create a stunning album that is visually interesting, tells the story of your wedding day and brings back all the love and emotion that made your Wedding so special.

Event Photography, Cocktail Party

A short while ago, Ian was asked to photograph Arrow's Annual Summer Conference.  The event lasted from midday until well in to the evening and was held at the stunning Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Whitney.

As part of the conference all the employees had a seminar hosted by a guest speaker in the Telecomms industry - and then the fun really began!  The employees were treated to a delicous BBQ lunch followed by a fantastic Cocktail Making experience by one of the Elvetham's professional barmen.

With some shaking, free-pouring and Tom Cruise style moves, the guests were taught how to create a range of cocktails that looked great and tasted even better!

Here's a few photos from the evening, it looks like they certainly enjoyed themselves!

Sneak Peek! Trunkwell Mansion Wedding

Sneak Peek! A Wedding with a Difference!

On Saturday 14th July 2012 Sarah & Lee got married at the beautiful Trunkwell Mansion, Beech Hill, Reading.  Sarah looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous wedding gown, the bridesmaids were radiant in raspberry coloured dresses and the Groom scrubbed up well too in his dashing grey suit!  Their handsome little son Harrison was beautifully behaved and definitely looked the part of Page Boy in his waistcoat and sat proudly in his co-ordinating highchair throughout the ceremony.

So, you may be asking “This all sounds lovely, but what was the difference you mentioned?”  Feast your eyes on these two! Charlie and Kenzo were the superstars of the day! Proudly walking down the aisle with their designated dog walkers, the two Staffordshire Bull Terriers too were also dressed for the occasion! Kenzo had a stunning bow-tie collar and Charlie her very own corsage!

So under the canopy of a huge white marquee, with two Bridesmaids, two Best Men, two Ushers, a Page Boy, their two Staffs, friends and family looking on, Sarah & Lee became husband and wife!

Some photos, a great wedding barbeque, speeches and celebratory toasts later, they hit the dance floor as Mr & Mrs Taylor!  The evening’s entertainment was a fantastic Rock band who had everyone up dancing until the early hours!

A huge “Congratulations to Sarah & Lee from all at Notton House Photography! It was fantastic to work with you again and we wish you all a lifetime of happy memories!

Notton House Photography – Our Story

Notton House Photography – Our Story

In 2009 my fiancé Ian and I decided to take our obsession for photography from a hobby to a business.  We have both been involved in photography for many years and envied people who got paid for doing what they love, so when someone said to me “You have a natural talent for photography, why you don’t do it professionally?” I figured I’d give it a go!

Then began the journey of finding what area of photography we wanted to specialise in.  It didn’t take long before we found our niche – Portraiture & Weddings / Events.

We started by photographing friends’ weddings and holding professional photo shoots in our studio. We had such great feedback from our clients, we decided to advertise and before we knew it enquiries were coming in thick and fast.  Low and behold, Notton House Photography was born!

Since then we have gone from strength to strength. With many Weddings, Events and Family Photo Shoots under our belt, working as a professional photographer is now a reality.  Bookings are coming in from advertising in Wedding guides, our website, exhibiting at Wedding Fairs, social networking and my favourite: referrals from past clients!

So when people ask us “Why do you love photographing people so much?”  We have a simple answer: the emotion.  The excited smile on a child’s face; the love in the eyes of a Mum holding her new born baby; the pride on a Fathers face when he walks his daughter down the aisle and the nervous excitement from the Bride as she gets ready to marry the man of her dreams.  It’s an honour and a privilege to be part of these special moments and capture them in an image that will last a lifetime, and more!

I would like to take a moment to say a special thanks to our family and friends who have supported us in the beginning and those who continue to do so as we move forward. You know who you are, so THANK YOU!
