The Secret to a Stunning Wedding Album

The Secret to a Stunning Wedding Album

The most effective wedding album tells a story.  Think carefully about which images you select for your album to ensure yours will tell your story in the perfect way.  Start looking at your wedding images by breaking up the day in to chapters.  A good photographer will always give you the following:

Before the Ceremony
  • Bridal Preparation – hair, make-up, preparing the gown
  • Bridesmaids
  • Detailed shots such as the gown, jewellery, shoes, flowers
  • Groom & Best Man / Ushers before the Ceremony
Ceremony
  • Guests / Groom waiting
  • Brides arrival
  • Service
  • Readings
  • Walking back up the aisle as Mr & Mrs
 Photo Shoot
  • Groups
  • Bridal Party
  • Bride & Groom Portraits
Reception
  • Room décor
  • Table settings
  • Speeches
  • Cutting of the cake
  • First Dance
  • Evening party
When deciding on your images for you album, remember to select images from the above chapters and don’t forget to include all those little details that make your day unique to you!

Tips:

Include snapshots of the preparation to the big moment: the Groom buttoning his cufflinks, your make-up and  give an idea of the setting: Marquee, Church, Grand House etc...

From the Ceremony and Reception, choose images of the sweet smiles passed between you and your Groom as well as the guests in the crowd wishing you well and remember to add the small details such as the menu’s, wedding favours, candles and champagne!  These photographs make great backgrounds to main images and your photographer will also use them to showcase your wedding in the best way.  After all, you put a lot of time and effort in to choosing all the details in the first place – so don’t leave them out!

Let your photographs speak for themselves.  Single photos on a page really stand out and a ‘blank’ space around the image highlights this even further.

Another lovely idea is to pick 3 or 4 similar images, for example of the first dance or from your speeches.  These can be beautifully laid out on the same page and give a level of intimacy and help viewers to delve in to your story.

When you have selected your images, take a moment to look through and see if you have enough variety: you will want both portrait and landscape shots, close up and distant, black & white and colour, candid and formal.  Ensuring a great mix of all of these will give you a beautiful and interesting album that you will want to look at time and time again.

Most importantly, talk to your photographer! Event Photography, Cocktail Party

A short while ago, Ian was asked to photograph Arrow's Annual Summer Conference.  The event lasted from midday until well in to the evening and was held at the stunning Elvetham Hotel in Hartley Whitney.

As part of the conference all the employees had a seminar hosted by a guest speaker in the Telecomms industry - and then the fun really began!  The employees were treated to a delicous BBQ lunch followed by a fantastic Cocktail Making experience by one of the Elvetham's professional barmen.

With some shaking, free-pouring and Tom Cruise style moves, the guests were taught how to create a range of cocktails that looked great and tasted even better!

Here's a few photos from the evening, it looks like they certainly enjoyed themselves!
